Construction Estimator

Construction Estimator will estimate the price of a project based on drawings and specifications. Applicants must have a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Engineering, closely related field or equivalent, and at least 60 months of experience in Construction, or a Master's degree with 24 months of experience utilizing Estimating Software B2W Software or similar, PROCORE or similar, Bluebeam or similar, proficient understanding of underground (sewer/water) and roadwork or vertical construction with management of multiple scopes to efficiently oversee and coordinate various aspects of construction projects, and proficient understanding of detailed structural steel plan review & execution. The ideal candidate will have experience with the following:·

  • Participate in weekly /biweekly project progress meetings.
  • Making incident/accident reports if required.
  • Study and have a complete knowledge of the project
  • Maintain and monitor hourly and daily production of crews.
  • Ensure that all work performed is in conformity to design and specification specified and report to project manager about any deviations.
  • Maintains a high standard of quality control and documentation coordination.
  • Communicates manpower needs based on schedule milestones to project manager.
  • Prepare submittals and request for inspection of materials (RFIM’ s) form required for the project.
  • Prepare actual bill of quantities of the work executed and prepare two weeks look-ahead schedule of the project.
  • Coordinate with resident engineer (RE) of the project and the sub-contractor during the execution of the project and attend weekly construction review meeting.
  • Follow safety standards during all the stages of project execution to avoid any type of incidents or accidents.
  • Develop work schedule of project & monitor the schedule with respect to time, cost & quality.
  • Participate in the pre-bid & pre-construction meeting.
  • Coordinate with services & structural consultant during all the stages of construction for smooth execution of work.
  • Prepare the unit price estimation & micro-planning schedule of various construction activities.

Required skills

  • MS Office experience with a focus on Excel
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Project
Manager
Pan-Oceanic Engineering Co., Inc. seeks a Project Manager to plan, design and oversee construction of waste water management projects and street restorations. Position requires work to be performed at various unanticipated worksites in Illinois, and at the company headquarters in Chicago, IL.

Required:
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering plus five years of experience in construction with waste water management projects and street restorations meeting ADA accessibility criteria and OSHA safety regulations. In the alternative, employer would also accept a Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering plus three years of experience in construction with waste water management projects and street restorations meeting ADA accessibility criteria and OSHA safety regulations. In addition, the following specific skills are required:

3 years of experience preparing survey layouts per contract plans, verifying survey layouts, and preparing survey reports;
3 years of quality control or quality assurance experience with concrete structures;
2 years of experience with analyzing civil engineering structural repair proposals;
1 year of experience preparing traffic control proposals; and,
Valid driver’s license required.
